Is one of your New Year's resolutions to take better care of yourself? One way for women aged over 40 to do just that, is to take positive action to monitor their breast health and book in for a free breast screen.
BreastScreen Queensland’s free mobile screening service will be at Bunnings Maroochydore from 10 – 16 January 2023 and Chancellor Park Marketplace from 18 – 25 January 2023.
Health Promotion Officer Kelly Hart said the service had appointments available now, including early morning appointments and Saturday appointments.
“Women don’t need a doctor’s referral to make a booking and appointments only take around 20 minutes,” Ms Hart said.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women, with one in seven Queensland women diagnosed in their lifetime.
A breast screen can detect cancer early, before a woman or her doctor can feel anything, and regular breast screening is the most effective way to reduce deaths from breast cancer.
BreastScreen Queensland offers free breast screens to women aged 40 and over. Women aged 50-74 years are particularly encouraged to have a free breast screen every two years
Making a potentially life-saving breast screening appointment is simple, just pick up the phone and call 13 20 50 or book online at breastscreen.qld.gov.au
