Visiting hours

Visitors are essential to patient health and wellbeing. We consider patients’ visiting preferences with clinical care, safety and the need for rest.

We are flexible about when you can visit people in our hospitals. However, there may be times when we may need to restrict visitors or ask visitors to leave.

Some wards may have set visiting rules. If you plan to visit someone, contact the hospital and ward where they're staying to see what visiting restrictions may apply before you arrive.

We have information about visiting each hospital in the list of hospitals below.

What can I bring to hospital?

When you're visiting a person in hospital, you can bring them things like books, magazines and fruit.

Some hospitals don't allow flowers on the wards or other clinical areas. Check with the hospital before you bring or send someone flowers.

Hand hygiene

When you're visiting someone in hospital, make sure you clean your hands using soap and water or a hand sanitiser. You need to do this when you enter or leave a patient's room or other areas of the hospital.

If you're unwell

Please don't visit anyone in hospital if you have a cough, cold, diarrhoea, vomiting or any other infectious condition.
